Achieve Something Great

Join a passionate and highly skilled multidisciplinary team in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Liverpool Hospital and make a lasting difference in the lives of some of our smallest and most vulnerable patients. As a senior Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the developmental outcomes of premature and medically complex infants from the very beginning of their journey. Working in a dynamic tertiary referral NICU, you will provide specialist developmental care, neurobehavioural assessment, family-centred intervention, and discharge planning to help infants thrive both in hospital and beyond.

This is a unique opportunity to combine clinical practice with leadership and mentorship. You will guide and support junior occupational therapists, contribute to workforce development, and help shape the future of neonatal and paediatric occupational therapy services within a collaborative and progressive healthcare environment.

Are You the Right Fit?

In this role, you will:

* Deliver specialised developmental care and neuroprotective interventions for premature and medically fragile infants.
* Conduct comprehensive neurobehavioural, sensory and developmental assessments to support individualised care planning.
* Partner closely with families, empowering parents to understand and support their infant's development and participation in everyday care.
* Lead occupational therapy input into complex discharge planning, ensuring smooth transitions from hospital to home and community services.
* Collaborate with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team including neonatologists, nursing staff, physiotherapists, speech pathologists, social workers and lactation consultants.
* Provide clinical supervision, mentorship and professional support to junior occupational therapists and students, fostering confidence, capability and excellence in practice.
* Drive innovation through participation in quality improvement, education and service development initiatives that enhance outcomes for infants and families.
* Partner with the Occupational Therapy Team Leader and Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist to review and develop innovative models of care, support service planning and contribute to the efficient operational management of the Paediatric Occupational Therapy team.
Selection Criteria

To help us assess your suitability for the role, please tell us as much as you can about yourself in response to the questions below.

* Recognised Degree in Occupational Therapy or other qualification deemed appropriate by the employer, and current Occupational Therapy registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Demonstrated advanced clinical skills in the management of neonates and infants within the NICU/Newborn care setting, and experience in the provision of occupational therapy services within acute and outpatient paediatric caseloads.
* Demonstrated extensive experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to improve patient-centred outcomes through coordinated, evidence-based care.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, mentoring of staff and/or students.
* Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge of service review and/or improvement using a quality improvement framework.

Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
