Position Information
Murrumburrah Public School has a proud history of providing over 160 years of quality school experience for the children in the townships of Harden, Murrumburrah and surrounding areas. It has a student population of 212 whose learning needs are met in 11 classes and 3 Multi-categorical classrooms. Many students come from low socio-economic backgrounds and the nearest regional centre is 150 kilometres away. 16% of students have Aboriginal heritage.
Our school motto is 'Learn To Live'. This motto underpins all we do. MPS has a systematic, evidence-based approach to support the learning and wellbeing of all students, with data informed tiered (universal, small group, individual) intervention supports. The practices of Visible Learning support explicit teaching that is centred on the needs of all students. Staff continually seeks improved learning outcomes for all students with the support of the Learning Support Team, multi-categorical classes and an Instructional Leader, is the guiding principle of our school culture, together with our core values of respect, responsibility and empathy.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with a diverse range of complex needs including autism, intellectual disabilities, trauma and mental health concerns with demonstrated ability to differentiate teaching and learning to meet individual student needs.
High level communication skills and the ability to work as part of a dynamic leadership and school team to facilitate whole school practices, including strategic planning, leading and monitoring initiatives and applying evaluative practices to drive continuous improvement with a focus on equity.
Proven ability to strengthen a dynamic and responsive school-wide approach to student inclusion, wellbeing, attendance and behaviour management processes enabling every student to connect, succeed, and thrive.
Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity to meet the needs of students with disability through evidence-informed practices, incorporating student voice and fostering a culture of inclusion.
General Selection Criteria
Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
