About the Business Unit
The Department of Justice and Community Safety delivers high-quality services to Victorians and supports a safe, just, innovative and thriving Victoria.
Ministerial portfolios within the department include Police and Emergency Services, the Attorney-General, Bushfire Response, Corrections, Crime Prevention, Liquor, Gaming and Racing Regulation and Consumer Affairs. The department also has responsibility for the implementation of integrity reform.
The Finance Branch (Finance) is responsible for the strategic financial management functions of DJCS. These include budget strategy and development, statutory reporting, general ledger management, cash management, financial systems maintenance and development and taxation. It also provides finance support services including accounts payable and receivable as well the development and publication of finance policies and procedures, the majority of which were developed to assist departmental business units.

About the Role
The Accounting Support Officer should preferably possess a working knowledge of accrual accounting coupled with experience in the operation of the Oracle Financial system. The Accounting Support Officer will be involved in managing the processing of revenue receipting, banking, invoicing, collection of overdue invoices, account reconciliations and General Ledger allocation of all departmental revenue.
The occupant will also develop a working knowledge of the following functions within the Accounting & Taxation Unit:

- Cash Management and Accounts Receivable
- Taxation
- Maintenance of Finance policies and procedures in TRIM and Sharepoint

**Some of your duties may include**:

- Raise invoices for various departmental Business Units. This involves accessing the receivables mailbox in a timely manner and invoicing on behalf of other business units after confirming all invoice details
- Answer and respond to telephone queries from debtors
- Perform debtor management procedures by making collection calls in a timely manner and advising them of the debt owed by way of monthly statements and, when necessary, engage a debt collection agency to pursue outstanding debts

About You
- Knowledge of the Oracle Financial System in particular the Accounts Receivable and General Ledger modules
- Knowledge of general accounting principles
- Knowledge of or interest and ability in maintaining SharePoint and TRIM
- Well-developed MS Excel skills

Qualifications/Requirements
- Completion of or progress towards a tertiary qualification with a major in accounting is desirable.

This includes evidence of three doses of a COVID-19 vaccine required by the department (from time to time).

**Acceptable evidence includes**:

- COVID-19 digital certificate or ATAGI exemption certificate (available via your myGov account)
- Your immunisation history statement (available via your myGov account)

Other documentation outside the above will not be accepted as evidence of having received your COVID-19 vaccine doses.
