NBMLHD Community Mental Health offers a range of specialised services for children, young people, families and older people, through our community-based services and health centres. Our multidisciplinary health professionals and case managers take a collaborative approach to mental health care by linking with their patients to work together and consult within an environment appropriate to the person's needs.

The Clinical Psychologist in this acute assessment and referral service plays a pivotal role in supporting individuals during their most vulnerable moments. Providing brief yet impactful psychological interventions, they assist with the assessment of consumers presenting in crisis, including those experiencing suicidal thoughts, self‑harm, or other acute mental health challenges. Working seamlessly within a multidisciplinary team, the Clinical Psychologist brings expertise in psychological screening and assessment tools, while also guiding referral pathways and discharge planning to ensure every consumer receives secure, coordinated, and compassionate care.

What You Will Bring To The Role

Accredited post‑graduate Masters or Doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology and full registration as Psychologist with AHPRA

Demonstrated knowledge, skills and clinical experience in working in mental health services, as well as working with families and carers.

Demonstrated skills and experience in clinical psychological assessments, and case formulation of consumers with complex presentations, including consumers presenting in acute crisis, emotional and interpersonal difficulties, problems with identity and sense of self and high‑risk suicidal behavior and self‑harm.

Demonstrated ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team to share expert knowledge with colleagues whilst building and maintaining professional relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.

Demonstrated experience in the provision of clinical supervision, leadership and support of colleagues and health professionals.

Well‑developed interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral and high level, organisational, prioritisation and time management skills.

Demonstrate the ability to lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of service delivery incorporating evidence‑based practice and research.

Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to sue for work‑purpose travel.
