About the role
GEO Healthcare provides primary healthcare to men in Public Prisons across Victoria. Working within a multidisciplinary team consisting of psychologists, social workers, and occupational therapists, the AOD Senior Program Facilitator contributes to the screening, assessment, and intervention of AOD concerns for people in custody.
Opportunity exists for one individual to work across both Melbourne Assessment Prison (0.50 FTE Part Time) and Metropolitan Remand Centre (0.50 FTE Part Time).
The Senior Program Facilitator has a particular focus on harm minimisation and facilitates programs and services that support and promote awareness of harm reduction strategies. Through group facilitation, the aim is to increase the self-efficacy of prisoners engaged in the service, through the development of effective coping strategies and relapse prevention planning.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities
* Screening, assessment, and intervention of AOD concerns for prisoners.
* Facilitate group programs focusing on drug awareness, harm reduction, and relapse prevention.
* Complete quality client case notes, treatment summaries, and reports and enter data into information management systems.
* Meet Key Performance Indicators and work to a schedule.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team and cross-agency stakeholders.
Required qualifications and experience
* Minimum qualification: Certificate IV or Diploma in AOD.
* Experience as a Senior Clinician in providing AOD support, treatment and interventions or extensive experience in the AOD sector.
* Demonstrated experience and broad expert knowledge in AOD assessment, harm minimisation education, and person‐centered care and recovery‐focused support for people with AOD concerns and dual diagnosis.
* Experience facilitating group programmes with a focus on drug awareness, harm reduction, and relapse prevention.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills and an ability to build and maintain positive collegial and stakeholder relationships.
* Commitment to professional development through participation in further training, supervision, and mentoring.
* Knowledge of the Victorian Criminal Justice System, including the role of courts, prisons, parole and community corrections.
* Ability to work collaboratively with others both cross‐agency and as part of a multidisciplinary team of professionals.
* Experience providing AOD services in correctional environments (desirable).
Other essential requirements
* Valid Australian driver's licence and the ability to travel between locations.
* Ability to work within a prison setting, which will involve direct contact with people in prison associated with the delivery of healthcare.
* Satisfactory completion of a National Criminal History Check.
* Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
* Working outside of ordinary business hours may be required.
