Overview
At Armidale Hospital, we are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) to join our Close Observation Unit (COU) team. As a member of this specialised unit, you will play a vital role in delivering competent nursing education in High Dependency and Intensive Care Nursing, which will in turn allow our team to provide care to patients with critical illness or injury, supporting them and their families through what is considered a very vulnerable time in their lives. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of patients while working in a supportive, team-oriented environment.
You won't be working alone. You will be supported by the Nurse Unit Manager and the other CNE that this role is job-shared with, as well as the broader team of CNEs within the hospital. Professional growth and training opportunities are not only supported but encouraged. An additional 0.5 maternity leave vacancy is forecasted in March ****, creating the opportunity to job share either two 0.5 roles or a one full-time position.
Key Responsibilities
Planning and co-ordination of all aspects of clinical teaching and education in the COU
Contribute to the development of colleagues and identify learning needs
Assist in ALS training and monitoring of rapid responses within the unit
Provide day-to-day clinical education support and clinical supervision at the point of care
Provide 1:1 informal education
Provide support for skill development in clinical procedures, professional development, clinical policy development and an in-service programme for COU
As Our New Clinical Nurse Educator, You Will
Be approachable, empathetic and motivated to help your colleagues in the COU
Have extensive and recent intensive care nursing experience
Enjoy working autonomously
Be able to demonstrate sound clinical teaching and communication skills through previous education programme development and co-ordination
Show your experience in quality management
Demonstrate your ability to develop and evaluate outcome-based clinical education
Essential Criteria
Current Registered Nurse with AHPRA plus relevant clinical or education post-registration qualifications and clinical experience
