Trade Waiter/Sommelier
This is a professional role that requires delivering exceptional customer service and wine knowledge.
* Setting and arranging tables to create a welcoming ambiance for guests.
* Taking reservations, greeting customers and presenting them with menus and beverage lists to facilitate their dining experience.
* Recommending dishes and wines to complement food and enhance the overall dining experience.
* Taking orders and relaying them to kitchen and bar staff to ensure efficient service.
* Serving food and beverages with attention to detail and presentation.
* Clearing tables and returning dishes and cutlery to the kitchen to maintain cleanliness and efficiency.
Sommelier Tasks:
* Opening bottles and pouring beverages including mixing liquor and assisting in the cellar.
* Recommending wines to complement food and enhancing the overall dining experience.
* Creating and managing the wine list, updating regularly in collaboration with the Head Chef.
* Ensuring wines are served at the correct temperature, in appropriate glassware, and with proper etiquette.
* Managing wine inventory and cellar, overseeing procurement, storage, and rotation of wine stock to maintain quality and availability.
Requirements:
* Certificate 3 in hospitality, or equivalent experience.
* 6 months relevant experience (or 18 months–2 years in lieu of qualifications).
* Former wait staff or sommelier experience preferred.
* Ability to build rapport with all customers, especially locals.
