Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Kitchen Steward to join our team in Sofitel Brisbane Central. As a Kitchen Steward, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and organization of our kitchen facilities, ensuring a smooth and safe operation for our culinary team.
Responsibilities
* Clean and sanitize all kitchen areas, including floors, walls, and work surfaces, adhering to established cleaning schedules and food safety standards.
* Wash, sanitize, and properly store all kitchen equipment, utensils, dishes, and glassware using industrial dishwashers or hand-washing techniques as appropriate.
* Assist in the maintenance of food storage areas, including refrigerators, freezers, and dry storage, ensuring proper organization and cleanliness.
* Remove and dispose of kitchen waste regularly, keeping the kitchen and waste areas free from refuse.
* Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to the Kitchen Management.
* Collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain an efficient and organized work environment.
* Participate in regular cleaning inspections and quality control checks.
* Adapt to changing priorities and assist with additional kitchen duties as required.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 6 months experience in a similar role, preferably in a commercial kitchen or hospitality setting.
* Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards.
* Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and capable of heavy lifting, pushing and pulling.
* Excellent attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
* Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently.
* Flexibility to work weekends, public holidays, and nighttime as needed.
* Adaptability and willingness to learn new skills and procedures.
* Basic understanding of kitchen operations and equipment.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‐paced team setting.
