We currently have an opportunity for an Area Manager to join our team, with relevant construction background. This position will support the Riverina Redevelopment Joint Venture (RRJV), a 50/50 partnership between Downer and CPB Contractors to undertake major upgrades and replacement of existing infrastructure and facilities.
The role will be site‑based on the RAAF Base Wagga area, covering the Albury Wodonga Military Area, Blamey Barracks (Kapooka) and the RAAF Base Wagga. Relocation packages are offered.
What you’ll do
- Plan, maintain, coordinate and monitor construction programmes and the completion of project activities, and communicate progress to relevant stakeholders.
- Organise, design and implement temporary works and infrastructure as required.
- Prepare work packages, documentation and quality requirements for tenders to potential subcontractors.
- Evaluate subcontractors to ensure capacity and capability to carry out the work.
- Seek the most efficient techniques, methods and materials.
- Inform the Project Manager of any significant SH&E;, quality or other difficulties that will impact project delivery or community relations and take appropriate action to rectify.
What you’ll bring
- Hold or be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance (must have).
- Either a recognised degree in an engineering discipline or another relevant tertiary qualification (TAFE or similar).
- Member of the Institution of Engineers Australia (IEAust) or graduate member of the Institute of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ) desirable.
- Previous experience as an SPE or equivalent.
- Experience developing methodologies to ensure compliance with SWTC (within area).
- Demonstrated commercial experience relating to planning up to 3 months ahead, development of risk treatment plans and reporting on cost, risk etc.
