About The Role
The Team Leader Public Relations and Media is responsible for providing strategic leadership in public relations and media management to enhance the Council's public image and brand awareness. This position involves collaborating with the elected Mayor and senior leadership to develop and implement effective communication strategies, manage reputational risks, and provide crisis communication expertise.
This role requires a strong leader who can foster community confidence and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders, ensuring that the team's outputs align with Council's values and objectives.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record in public relations and media management. You will possess strong leadership skills and the ability to manage a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
5. Tertiary qualifications inCommunications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
6. Experience in strategic public relations within a diverse organisation.
7. Proven ability to manage media responses during crisis situations.
8. Exceptional writing and communication skills for diverse audiences.
Experience in Local, State, or Federal Government and change management is desirable. A current Driver's Licence is required for this position.

14. Hours of work: Temporary Full Time. Opportunity expected to be available for up to 12 months. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council's flex system.
