About The Role

As an On‐Road Assessor, you will be responsible for assessing property damage, determining claim liability, scope, and quantum, and ensuring claims are managed in line with relevant policy applications, legislative requirements, and service excellence standards. You'll work closely with Claims Managers, repairers & suppliers, both internal and external stakeholders. You will provide expert advice, resolve issues, and ensure customers feel informed and supported throughout the claims journey. This is a hands‐on, autonomous role suited to someone who enjoys variety, customer interaction, and balancing technical decision‐making with empathy and care.

Key Responsibilities
* Conduct on‐site, virtual, desktop property assessments with customers, or alongside our panel repairers
* Determine, review, accept, or decline scopes of work to ensure appropriate, cost‐effective, and high‐quality repairs
* Communicate clear, timely, and accurate advice to customers regarding claim decisions, next steps, timeframes, and progress
* Support Claims Managers in resolving complex customer issues and identifying and assisting vulnerable customers
* Accurately assess property loss or damage, documenting all decisions, evidence, and outcomes in written assessment reports
* Drive cost‐focused outcomes, ensuring repair quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives
* Proactively identify and manage risks, escalating potential fraud concerns, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and legislative obligations
* Provide feedback on repairer performance and suggest process or service improvements to enhance customer outcomes
About You

You're a confident decision‐maker who balances technical expertise with strong customer focus. You're organised, resilient, and comfortable working independently in a fast‐paced environment.

Mandatory Qualifications
* Trade qualifications or formal qualifications in building or allied trades
Desired Qualifications
* Certificate IV in General Insurance or equivalent
* Diploma Loss Adjusting
* Previous assessing/supervision/construction experience
* Ability to assess claims across Queensland, which may involve frequent travel
* Exceptional customer skills with the ability to manage customer expectations effectively while providing support during times of need both face to face and via the telephone
* Extensive experience within insurance and/or property claim industry
* Strong written skills, with ability to write detailed assessment reports
Key Skills & Capabilities
* Ability to operate various technology and operating systems with strong computer literacy skills
* Strong conflict resolution skills while demonstrating empathy
* High attention to detail, problem‐solving, and negotiation skills
* Ability to interpret insurance policies and expert reports, to determine correct coverage decisions
* Strong knowledge of repair methodology, and repair/building standards
* Proactive, resilient, and committed to continuous improvement
* Effective time‐management skills, high organisation, and ability to manage high pressure while balancing workload
* Sound understanding of insurance legislation, compliance, and governance requirements
