Senior Helpdesk Support Officer 12-Month Contract | 100% on site in Clayton | Australian Citizenship mandatory We are seeking an experienced Senior Helpdesk Support Officer to join a high-performing ICT Operations team supporting a complex enterprise technology environment. This position will be suited for someone with AGSVA security clearance. This role is ideal for a hands-on support professional with strong Linux administration experience and a solid background in Windows desktop and infrastructure support. You'll play a key role in delivering Level 1 and Level 2 support, maintaining critical systems, and ensuring a high standard of service delivery across the organisation. Key Responsibilities Provide Level 1 and Level 2 technical support across desktop, laptop, mobile, and peripheral devices. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, operating system, and network-related issues. Support Linux-based environments, including user administration, system maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting. Assist with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, authentication services, and endpoint management. Manage incidents and service requests through the ITSM platform. Support security patching, vulnerability remediation, and access management processes. Contribute to infrastructure stability, performance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Develop and maintain support documentation, knowledge articles, and operational procedures. Collaborate with infrastructure, security, and project teams to deliver quality outcomes. About You Experience in a Helpdesk, Service Desk, Desktop Support, or Technical Support role within a government setting Strong Linux administration skills across Red Hat, Ubuntu, CentOS, Debian, or similar platforms. Experience supporting Windows desktop environments and Microsoft technologies. Knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, Microsoft 365, and endpoint management tools. Understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, and remote access technologies. Familiarity with ITIL-based service management and ticketing systems. Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills. Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment. Desirable Experience RHCSA, RHCE, Linux, LPIC, or similar Linux certifications. Experience supporting government, defence, or critical infrastructure environments. Scripting and automation experience using Bash, Python, or PowerShell. Exposure to AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms. Understanding of cybersecurity principles and secure operating environments.
