About the Role
Deputy Project Engineering Manager – Maritime Sustainment, Garden Island, Sydney, NSW. Reporting to the Program Manager, you will deliver engineering outputs within quality, cost and schedule constraints, ensuring alignment with BAE Systems' quality systems and operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with BAE Systems Quality Systems requirements and the Operational Framework document on LCM (LCM.OF.102.POL).
Develop and implement technical approaches, assign resources, and monitor progress of the engineering program.
Lead and manage engineering staff, business partnerships, and sub-contracts.
Maintain engineering cost and schedule commitments and drive continuous process improvement.
Provide technical reviews, including Design Reviews (DR) and Technical Bid Reviews (TBR), and contribute to phase and contract reviews.
Support the Control Account Manager with technical approvals, variance reports, and balance of cost, schedule and quality.
Qualifications
Defence security clearance or eligibility to obtain NV1.
Eligibility for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance.
Tertiary qualification in Engineering (essential).
Demonstrated team leadership experience with substantial formal engineering background (essential).
Experience in managing mid- to large-sized projects (15+ people) is desirable.
Working knowledge of defence project environments is advantageous.
Clearances
Applicants must be Australian citizens and either possess or be eligible to obtain and maintain the required security clearances. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) apply; applicant nationality may affect suitability for this role.
