Head of Engineering | AI-First SaaS Platform
A high-growth Australian SaaS company is looking to appoint Head of Engineering to lead the next chapter of its platform and engineering organisation.
This is not a maintenance leadership role.
The business already has strong enterprise traction, global customers, product‐market fit, and a growing international footprint. They are now entering a major transformation phase — evolving from a traditional workflow and automation platform into an AI‐native product company, with Agentic AI becoming central to both the product architecture and the way engineering operates internally.
The incoming candidate will inherit an established engineering organisation and play a key role in scaling both the platform and the people behind it.
You'll work directly with founders and senior leadership to define how engineering scales over the next 18–24 months while helping shape what an AI‐first enterprise software company looks like in practice.
What You'll Be Responsible For
* Leading and scaling the engineering organisation across multiple product teams
* Defining technical strategy, platform architecture, and engineering standards
* Driving AI adoption across the SDLC and engineering workflows
* Building scalable systems, processes, and delivery structures
* Balancing innovation, platform quality, security, and reliability
* Partnering closely with product and executive leadership on long‐term strategy
* Hiring, mentoring, and developing senior engineering leaders
* Helping evolve the platform toward more autonomous and AI‐driven capabilities

What They're Looking For
* Previous VP Engineering / Head of Engineering / CTO experience
* Experience scaling engineering organisations through high‐growth phases
* Strong background in platform architecture and distributed systems
* Exposure to AI‐enabled products, GenAI, or agentic workflows
* Strong operational and execution capability
* Experience navigating complexity, technical debt, and scaling challenges
* Ability to operate strategically while remaining close to engineering decisions
