Job title: Maintenance Operative
Location: Ipswich/Norwich (travel between Ocasa sites in Ipswich and Norwich (4 sites))
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Reports to: Facilities Manager
Role Overview
The Maintenance Operative will report to the Facilities Manager, managing maintenance and repairs, ensuring works are resolved effectively across properties in Ipswich and Norwich.
Key Responsibilities
* Completing minor plumbing repairs such as fixing dripping taps or running toilet cisterns
* Painting both full flats and minor touch ups, including filling in damage
* Minor works such as tightening cupboard doors, fixing door handles
* Installing household appliances such as washing machines and dishwashers
* Installing smoke and carbon monoxide alarms
* Changing light bulbs
* Fixing toilet seats
* Site clearance
* Furniture assembly and moving furniture
* Fitting shelves, hanging pictures and installing window locks
* General building and grounds maintenance
* Undertaking maintenance tasks as directed and prioritising tasks according to urgency
* Ensuring standards and procedures are adhered to and working closely with Health & Safety
* Assisting in the improvement of Health & Safety standards across all sites
* Working collaboratively and engaging with other teams within the business
* Supporting the delivery of continuous improvement action plans
* Maintaining a safe and clean environment for all
Experience and Qualifications
* Previous experience in a similar role, confidence carrying out general handyperson, decorating and maintenance tasks
* Good practical skills across a variety of repair and maintenance tasks
* A genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service
* Good communication skills
* Competent with IT
* Full UK driving licence
* Able to work well both independently and as part of a team
* Strong time management skills, with the ability to work to deadlines and balance multiple priorities
* A positive, can‐do attitude and flexible approach to your working day
* Awareness of health and safety for yourself and others on site
* Willingness to work flexibly, including outside normal hours when needed to maintain service continuity
* Access to your own vehicle required; fuel card provided for business fuel costs
