Composite Technician
Location: Australind, WA (just north of Bunbury, South West of WA). Permanent full‐time, 38 hours per week compressed into a 9‐day fortnight.
Responsibilities
The Composite Technician is responsible for providing specialist expertise in plastic welding and fibreglass, and for trade support for maintenance, service and repair of fixed plant and equipment across the TiO2 refinery. Key duties include:
* Fabrication, modification and repair of FRP piping and vessels in accordance with site standards, using a range of layup techniques and resin types suited to process conditions.
* Measuring, fabricating and installing plastic process pipework such as PVC, polypropylene and ABS.
* Fabrication of sheet components using FRP and other plastics, strictly adhering to site piping specifications and construction procedures.
* Active involvement in daily, weekly and shutdown maintenance tasks.
Qualifications
* Certificate III in Engineering – Composites Trade or equivalent discipline (highly regarded).
* Demonstrated experience in plastic welding and fibreglass fabrication, maintenance and repairs.
* Experience maintaining a complex fixed‐plant environment under strict engineering safety and compliance standards (highly desirable).
* Highest regard for safe work practices with a passion for continuous improvement.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a cohesive, multi‐trade maintenance team.
