As a Senior Plant Maintenance Engineer, you will support the reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement of a specialised manufacturing operation. This is a hands‐on role spanning plant maintenance, engineering support, technical documentation, and process improvement across bespoke production equipment.
Working closely with the maintenance team you will drive overall plant maintenance performance while working closely with production, maintenance, and management teams. You will be responsible for improving equipment reliability, minimising downtime, supporting engineering upgrades, and strengthening preventative maintenance systems and technical documentation.
This role suits a practical, solutions-focused engineer who enjoys working closely with manufacturing operations, leading teams, and contributing to ongoing operational improvements within a specialised Australian manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
Conduct root cause analysis on equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve plant reliability and reduce repeat issues.
Maintain engineering documentation including CAD drawings, BOMs, technical files, and records within the MEX system.
Perform regular audits on production machinery to determine parts replacement lifecycles and drive the preventative maintenance program.
Support the development and continuous improvement of CMMS (MEX)
Liaise with Maintenance Supervisor to coordinate daily maintenance across plant equipment and manufacturing operations to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable performance.
Drive accountability across maintenance activities through effective planning, follow‐up, communication, and attention to detail.
Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues to minimise downtime and support production requirements.
Assist with machinery upgrades, engineering modifications and continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing operations.
Support maintenance, and planning through accurate record‐keeping, equipment history management and maintenance reporting.
Work closely with production, maintenance and management teams to improve equipment reliability, operational performance and manufacturing efficiency.
Provide technical leadership and operational support to the maintenance function, working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and production personnel.
Ensure all maintenance and engineering activities are carried out in accordance with WHS requirements, company procedures and safe work practices.
Contribute to a proactive, safety‐focused and continuous improvement culture.
Skills & Experience
Strong communication skills with the ability to provide technical guidance and support across maintenance and production teams.
Ability to build positive working relationships across operations while maintaining clear expectations, follow‐through, and operational discipline.
Experience coordinating contractors and operational stakeholders within a fast‐paced manufacturing environment highly regarded.
Strong mechanical background in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
Hands‐on experience with plant maintenance, fault finding, and equipment repair.
Good understanding of hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
Ability to read and work from technical drawings and schematics.
Experience with CAD software and maintenance systems (MEX or similar).
Strong analytical and problem‐solving capability.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Practical, hands‐on engineering mindset with a focus on reliability, safety, and improvement.
Qualifications
Mechanical Engineering qualification or equivalent industry experience.
Background in Plant Maintenance, Manufacturing Engineering, or similar role.
Trade background highly regarded.
Experience in specialised or bespoke manufacturing environments highly regarded.
Understanding of safe maintenance practices and WHS requirements.
