The Utility Worker B is responsible for performing a variety of specialized grinding, finishing, and welding operations on sheet metal enclosures. This role requires the ability to execute tasks defined for Utility Worker C, along with advanced skills in surface preparation, material finishing, and resistance welding, ensuring all work adheres to established standards and quality guidelines.
The Utility Worker B is responsible for performing a variety of specialized grinding, finishing, and welding operations on sheet metal enclosures. This role requires the ability to execute tasks defined for Utility Worker C, along with advanced skills in surface preparation, material finishing, and resistance welding, ensuring all work adheres to established standards and quality guidelines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
* Perform all work functions and tasks described for the Utility Worker C position.
* Execute a variety of external surface grinding and finishing operations on sheet metal enclosures and parts.
* Conduct internal finishing operations using abrasive media blasting and/or grinding techniques.
* Perform grinding on a diverse range of parts constructed from various metals and alloys.
* Operate resistance welding equipment, specifically including Size 2 Spot/Projecting Welders.
* Operate hand-held Stud Welding equipment.
* Perform visual inspection of all completed work to ensure adherence to part specifications and quality guidelines.
* Follow standard methods and procedures for all finishing and grinding processes.
* Perform other duties as required (See Job Specific Checklist for additional tasks).
Required Qualifications and Skills:
* Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent is required.
* Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak English in order to understand written instructions, verbal directions, and accurately document the completion of work.
* Experience: Six to twelve months of previous experience in a related manufacturing environment is preferred for new employees.
* Technical Skills:
o Ability to pass a hands-on grinding test is mandatory.
o Requires demonstrated manual dexterity.
o Ability to read blueprints is a plus.
* Cognitive Requirements: Requires concentrated mental and visual attention. Some judgment is required to ensure consistent adherence to strict part specifications and quality guidelines.
