Financial Accountant – NSW Government
Location: Parramatta (Hybrid)
• Duration: 6 months
• Rate: $55–$60 per hour + super
• Hours: 35 hours per week
Our NSW Government client is seeking an experienced Financial Accountant to join their team on a 6-month contract.
This role suits a detail-oriented finance professional with strong experience in end-to-end financial control, reporting, and analysis.
You'll join a high-performing finance team and play a key role in maintaining the integrity and accuracy of financial operations.
The position offers a balanced hybrid work model and the opportunity to contribute to critical financial control and reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities
Manage financial control activities for month-end and year-end close, including journals, intercompany transactions, and reconciliations.
Act as the subject matter expert for the department's expense/revenue portfolio, providing detailed analysis, insights, and reports.
Maintain integrity across accounts payable, payment receipts, accruals, and creditor balances.
Liaise with Shared Service Teams to ensure accuracy in payment processing, purchase orders, and asset registers.
Support budgeting, forecasting, project finance, and business partnering activities.
Assist with year-end reporting and audit requirements.
Oversee revenue transactions to ensure compliance and provide financial support as needed.
About You
CA/CPA Qualified
Strong financial accounting background, ideally within a large or government organisation
SAP experience (desirable) and strong excel skills
Hands-on experience with month-end close, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate across teams.
Proactive and demonstrates strong initiative
