About the Role
Reporting to the CEO and CFO, the Senior Operations Manager is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving and optimising Sea Forest's multi-site operations across Tasmania and Newcastle, with regular engagement in Sydney. The role holds broad accountability for site leadership, operational performance, project delivery, and the ongoing development of operational systems.
It also leads the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Sea Forest's Integrated Management System (IMS), incorporating Quality Assurance (QA) and Work Health & Safety (WHS), while supporting scalable growth, audit readiness, and a strong culture of accountability across all sites.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage day-to-day operations across Triabunna, Swansea and Newcastle, ensuring production, logistics and site activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to plan.
Drive operational performance, productivity, cost optimisation, contractor oversight and asset utilisation across multiple sites.
Lead the development, implementation and maintenance of the Integrated Management System (IMS), incorporating QA and WHS.
Take direct ownership of the Feed Safety & Quality Management System (FS&QMS), including HACCP, GMP, FAMI-QS, VACCP, TACCP, supplier quality, product testing and recall capability.
Lead WHS strategy and implementation across all operational sites, including risk assessments, hazard management, incident investigations and safety leadership.
Deliver operational and capital projects on time and within scope and budget, supporting scale‐up, new site development and operational improvement initiatives.
Lead internal and external audits, identify compliance gaps, implement corrective actions, and provide clear reporting to leadership and governance forums.
Lead, coach and develop site teams, embedding best practice and building a high‐performance, accountable culture across locations.
About You
Demonstrated experience in operations management, ideally across multi‐site environments.
Strong experience in project management and operational delivery.
Proven capability managing Quality Assurance (QA) and Work Health & Safety (WHS) systems.
Knowledge of relevant compliance frameworks including HACCP, GMP, ISO and FAMI-QS.
Experience in manufacturing, biotechnology, agriculture or similar industries.
Exceptional leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with strong analytical, organisational and problem‐solving capability.
Willingness and capacity to travel regularly between Tasmania, Sydney and Newcastle.
Formal qualifications in Operations, Engineering, Quality, WHS or a related discipline.
Lead auditor or certification experience across ISO, HACCP or FAMI‐QS frameworks.
Experience scaling operations or commissioning new facilities.
