About the Opportunity
Liverpool Hospital is seeking compassionate and skilled Registered Midwives to join our 25‑bed Postnatal Ward. This is your opportunity to support women and families during one of life’s most significant and vulnerable stages, delivering exceptional, woman‑centred care in a collaborative and culturally responsive environment.
Why Choose Liverpool
Be part of a dynamic team that values kindness, inclusivity, and professional growth. You’ll work alongside experienced clinicians, gain exposure to diverse clinical presentations, and access ongoing education and mentoring from Clinical Midwifery Educators and Consultants. Whether you’re starting your career or looking to advance, we offer opportunities to learn, lead, and thrive while making a real difference for our community—including Aboriginal and multicultural families.
Responsibilities
The midwife is a responsible and accountable professional who works in partnership with women to give the necessary support, care and advice during pregnancy, labour and the postpartum period. The role includes conducting births on the midwife's own responsibility and providing care for the newborn and infant. This position may entail rotating through various clinical areas such as Birthing Unit, Post/Antenatal Ward, Special Care Nursery and Antenatal Clinic. All staff are expected to act as an appropriate and effective role model, promoting a culture that supports practices that reflect the NSW Health CORE values of Collaboration, Openness, Respect and Empowerment through demonstrated behaviours and interactions with patients, clients and employees.
Where You Will Be Working
Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south‑western Sydney, offering a wide range of state‑wide services including critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care, and brain injury rehabilitation. It is a key teaching facility for UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, providing extensive clinical services, including emergency care, cancer treatment, paediatrics and mental health services. The hospital features 23 operating theatres and a capacity for 877 beds.
The ongoing $830 million redevelopment as part of the Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct is transforming the hospital into a global hub for medical innovation. This redevelopment will expand clinical services, enhance research and teaching facilities, and introduce state‑of‑the‑art equipment and amenities.
Working at Liverpool Hospital means being part of a forward‑thinking, cutting-edge team dedicated to providing exceptional patient care. The hospital’s commitment to education and research offers numerous opportunities for professional development and career progression.
The vibrant and supportive work environment, combined with the hospital’s central location near public transport and local amenities, makes it an ideal place to grow your career while making a meaningful impact on the community.
