Overview
You will be joining a local council in the Hunter Valley region, working as part of an established Environmental Health team in a fast paced regulatory environment. The team delivers a structured inspection program and is looking for experienced support through to the end of the financial year.
Key Responsibilities
* Carrying out routine and risk based food premises inspections
* Assessing compliance with the Food Act 2003, Food Regulation and Food Standards Code
* Issuing statutory notices, including improvement and prohibition notices where required
* Managing food safety and public health complaints, including investigations
* Providing clear guidance and advice to food business operators
* Maintaining accurate records of inspections, enforcement actions and case work in council systems
Qualifications
* A qualification in Environmental Health or similar that allows appointment as an Authorised Officer
* Previous experience conducting food safety inspections within a local government setting
* Confidence working independently and managing competing priorities
* Experience applying practical and proportionate enforcement approaches
* Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
* A current Class C driver licence
