SoBran is seeking a Veterinary Technician II (ICU) for our Bethesda, MD team.
Description of Duties (Will include but not limited to):
* Understands and follows all SOPs and Quality Assurance Standards.
* Assists veterinarians with examinations and procedures, and alerts veterinarian of emergencies or animal problems.
* Administers clinical treatments as directed (PO, IM, SQ, IV) to critical and chronic animals.
* Monitors the health status and supports medical care for all DVR species (to include NHPs, dogs, pigs, sheep, rats, rabbits, and mice).
* Operates mechanical ventilators, anesthesia equipment, ECG, capnography and related equipment.
* Supervises caretakers during weekend shifts.
* Reports personnel problems to Lead Veterinary Technician.
* Participates in weekly technical or SOP training.
* Available to work the hours of 6:00 am to 2:30 pm or from 11 am until 7:30 pm M‑F. Requires weekend work as scheduled (11:30 am to 5:30 pm) and occasional overtime including overnight shifts based on research needs or emergencies.
Required Experience:
* Must have an A.A. in Veterinary Technology or a B.S. in Biology, Animal Science, or related discipline.
* 5+ years of related experience.
* Experience with surgically (aseptically and anesthetically) preparing and transporting animals to surgery and recovering upon return.
* Experience providing pre‑ and post‑monitoring of vital signs (respiration, heart rate, body temperature, pulse, etc.) of animals scheduled for surgical procedures.
* Ability to think strategically and proactively to anticipate needs, risks, and emerging requirements.
* Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
* AALASS certified at LAT and be LATG eligible (LATG certification is required within one year of hire).
