This role sits within the Argo Complex, an integrated support function bringing together the Carborough Downs Bord and Pillar mine, Ironbark No.1 Longwall mine, Broadlea Open Cut, and a centralised CHPP. Working across these sites, you'll play a key part in supporting collaboration between teams, leading, coordinating, and elevating environmental management across our Complex. It's a dynamic position that offers exposure to multiple facets of our operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, you report to the General Manager of Environmental in our Brisbane Office, and be the go‐to for the Environmental function across the on‐site Complex. You will provide critical oversight and strategic direction, ensuring compliance is not only met but exceeded. You'll work across diverse teams and stakeholders, managing overlapping approvals, navigating evolving environmental obligations, and driving continuous improvement in environmental performance.
* Develop, implement and continuously improve the management systems that underpin the operations' environmental and community performance.
* Provide leadership and practical support to on‐site environmental teams to ensure they can focus on the day‐to‐day requirements at their operation.
* Provide advice to site teams to ensure that our commitments to environmental and social responsibility are included in day‐to‐day considerations.
* Manage compliance with regulatory environmental requirements and company standards, identifying, managing and resolving any gaps.
* Maintaining current environmental systems (including monitoring and reporting), Water and Groundwater Management, Offsets, Air Quality and Noise Management
* Conduct environmental site audit inspections, develop and implement solutions for site matters, monitor quality, and engage site teams to innovate and improve site outcomes.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN YOU
* Qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or similar
* Experience in mining/resources industry, preferably within underground coal mining, but not essential for the right applicant
* A strong communicator that can tailor their style to all levels of a business. This is a Complex position that will deal with various General Manager's and site personnel
* The ability to drive positive outcomes when managing competing priorities
* Demonstrated experience effectively managing environmental risks
* Competent in conducting environmental surveys and studies with a focus on safety and timely completion
* Adaptable to constant change i.e. project design or strategy changes
* Ability to work autonomously with strong planning, organising and time management skills
