We are seeking dedicated and detail-oriented Cleaners to join our Environmental Services team. The ideal candidates will contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring the well‐being of patients, visitors, and staff. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the overall cleanliness and infection control within Yarrawonga Health.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintain high standards of cleanliness through routine cleaning, disinfecting and sanitising of patient rooms, communal areas and other designated spaces.
* Safely collect, handle and dispose of waste, recyclables and biohazardous materials in accordance with hospital protocols.
* Adhere to infection prevention and control procedures, with a strong focus on high‐touch and high‐risk areas.
* Work collaboratively with the Environmental Services team and healthcare staff to support efficient service delivery and specific cleaning requirements.
* Follow workplace health and safety guidelines and promptly report hazards, risks or incidents to the appropriate supervisor.
Key Selection Criteria:
* Must be able to work all shifts, weekly, afternoon and weekends including public holidays.
* Computer skills at a basic level.
* Understanding of confidentiality.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
* Ability to work with a wide variety of people.
* Self‐motivated with a high level of communication and organisational skills demonstrated ability to work alone.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in cleaning, preferably in a healthcare setting.
* Knowledge of infection control practices and procedures.
* Knowledge of proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
Skills and Abilities:
* Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high cleanliness standards.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and moving equipment.
