Position Information

Clarke Road School is committed to ensuring that every student experiences a continuous, meaningful and relevant learning pathway. Supporting students from Kindergarten through Year 12 with moderate to severe intellectual disabilities, our school is committed to fostering active engagement in learning and providing opportunities that empower our students to develop a strong and confident voice. We focus on cultivating effective learning patterns and promoting student independence within a supportive and inclusive school environment.

Our commitment extends to maintaining high standards in the delivery of personalised learning and support plans, aligned with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) curriculum requirements. We prioritise student wellbeing and provide a nurturing environment that supports the development of all learners.

The staff at Clarke Road School work collaboratively in professional teams to ensure each child is known, supported and valued. There is a continued focus on ongoing professional growth for all members of the school community. Located in Hornsby, Clarke Road School currently has an enrolment of 57 students.

Please note that this is a teaching Assistant Principal position at Clarke Road School which includes classroom teaching responsibilities alongside leadership duties

Specific Selection Criteria

1. Approval to teach special education and/or experience teaching students with moderate to severe intellectual disability, autism, physical disability and complex learning needs.

2. Demonstrated skills in instructional leadership to build productive teaching teams and develop capabilities in teaching students with complex needs.

3. Demonstrated capacity to lead and contribute to whole school planning and work collaboratively to facilitate innovation and ongoing improvement and an ability to integrate technology that facilities improved school wide administrative practices and delivery of educational programs.

4. Demonstrated up to date knowledge and strategies to develop outstanding programs to address communication and complex behavioural needs of students with disability.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm vaccination status prior to the department finalising their appointment and entry on duty.
