Queensland Animal Science Precinct (QASP) invites applications for a casual pool of Associate Animal Technician positions. Competitive hourly rate of $44.67 plus 11.5% superannuation. Positions based at the Gatton Campus.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Animal Husbandry: Provide care and welfare for livestock, maintain clean housing and biosecurity, perform record‐keeping, assist with research sampling and euthanasia as required.
* Operational Support: Prepare facilities, operate machinery and other equipment, ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards, manage waste, and communicate effectively with the team.
* Research Support: Assist in research projects by performing routine procedures, providing experimental support, and participating in rosters including weekend or public‐holiday duties.

About You
* Essential: Certificate III in Agriculture (or equivalent) and relevant work experience; possession of a C Class Licence; at least 2 years' experience in livestock handling and animal husbandry; competence with livestock techniques such as SC/IM injections and blood collection; experience operating plant and machinery such as tractors or forklifts; ability to safely operate hand tools and basic equipment in accordance with OH&S standards; strong attention to detail, independent work capability, and excellent teamwork and communication skills.
* Desirable: Knowledge of OH&S, OGTR, DAWE regulatory requirements and animal welfare codes; experience in a research environment or meat processing.
