Offer description

Work Health & Safety Advisor (Part-Time | 2-3 Days Per Week)

Schnits Frozen Foods is a well-established, family-owned food manufacturing business based in Bibra Lake. We are seeking an experienced and proactive WHS Advisor to establish and lead our WHS function in a newly created standalone role.

This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional who enjoys building systems from the ground up, driving continuous improvement and making a real impact in a hands‐on manufacturing environment.

About the Role

Reporting to the General Manager (and working closely with the leadership team), this standalone WHS role will be responsible for reviewing our current safety practices, identifying gaps and implementing practical and sustainable WHS systems and processes across the business.

This position is initially offered 2-3 days per week, with the potential to increase as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

* Review and assess existing WHS systems, policies and procedures.
* Conduct a WHS gap analysis and develop an improvement plan to address key risks.
* Implement and maintain WHS procedures, registers and compliance documentation.
* Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
* Develop and roll out risk assessments, SWMS and safe operating procedures.
* Assist with contractor management, inductions and WHS compliance.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits and hazard identification activities.
* Support training, toolbox talks and safety communications across the workforce.
* Assist in the development of emergency response plans and safety drills.
* Provide WHS advice to leaders, supervisors and employees and promote a strong safety culture.
* Ensure compliance with WHS legislation and food manufacturing safety requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will be confident working independently and able to build and implement safety systems with minimal supervision. You will be practical, organised and comfortable engaging directly with production teams on the floor. This role is yours to make your own!

* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (or higher qualification).
* Proven experience in a WHS role within manufacturing, FMCG, food processing or industrial environments.
* Strong understanding of WA WHS legislation and compliance requirements.
* Experience conducting risk assessments, incident investigations and audits.
* Ability to develop and implement safety documentation and systems.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport across all levels.
* Demonstrated ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of an organisation.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
* Experience implementing WHS systems from scratch in a standalone role.
* Experience supporting workers' compensation, injury management and return to work processes.
* First Aid or Fire Warden training experience.

What We Offer

* Part-time role (2-3 days per week), with potential to increase as the business grows.
* Flexible working arrangement (days negotiable).
* Opportunity to build a WHS function and make a meaningful impact.
* Supportive and down‐to‐earth management team.
* Long‐term opportunity within a stable and growing business.

Applicants must have unrestricted Australian working rights. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
