CASA requires one (1) Specified Personnel for the position of content designer, within the Communications Branch. This position is for a CS3A (APS 6).
About the Role Reporting to the Web team leader, Creative and Digital within the Communications branch working within the web team to design and ensure content meets user's needs. This includes strategising and aligning content to best practice principles to improve user experience and address information gaps. They will work closely with business areas, communication officers, publishers to manage content through approvals. They will coordinate, curate, and create content to enhance the readability of content and translate complex language into plain English.
Key Duties
* Using data and evidence to identify content gaps and improvements. There will be a specific focus on creating content to address areas of regulatory confusion or misunderstanding and working with business areas to optimise and build website content to reduce customer queries.
* Work with the Web team Leader to manage the CASA website/s Information Architecture (IA): Ensuring all content developed and delivered aligns with the content structure. Using strategy, analytics and working with stakeholders to ensure content and structure improves customer experience.
* Using a variety of tools, coordinate content development and delivery. Using tools such as google analytics and hot jar to complete research to support trends and inform content improvement. Using the established content schedules, models and associated material to guide and support the content rewrite process as well as the ongoing review of content on the CASA website and other subsites.
* Alignment and consistency with the Digital Service Standard and Government Style Manual, and CASA content plan. Working with business areas and other writers to rewrite content so that it is consistent in language and tone, simple and clear to understand and accessible whilst adhering to the website content plan.
* Rewriting web content to improve readability, reduce duplication and confusion and ensure that website visitors can obtain the required information as quickly and as clearly as possible.
* Provide review and feedback on content drafts for website pages across the Communications Branch, working closely with Communication officers to educate and enforce content readability standards.
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
* To be eligible for employment with CASA, they must be an Australian citizen or a permanent resident
* A National Police Check is required for all CASA candidates prior to commencing work.

Candidates must have the following skills and experience:
* coordinating internal and external content development, using tools to ensure workflow and approvals are maintained
* writing and editing content to Australian Government standards
* being able to meet tight timelines and manage competing deadlines
* building, engaging with and managing internal and external stakeholders to develop content and seek approvals
* Ability to research, use analytics to inform content decisions and proactively improve content and user experience
* The desired candidate must also have relevant tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations or related fields or possession of recognised skills or relevant experience in the information/ communication field.
Desirable attributes
* knowledge of Australian government online standards and their application, particularly WCAG 2.2 and the Digital Transformation Agency's Digital Services Standard
* experience publishing content and working with content management systems in particular Drupal/govCMS
* Experience in an aviation or regulatory environment.
Location
The Specified Personnel will be based at CASA's Canberra Office located at 18 Marcus Clarke Street, Canberra ACT 2600.
