Aurora Dairies are currently seeking multiple Agricultural Technicians in the Gippsland and Northern Victoria region, Victoria.

Job Description
* Use understanding of animal anatomy to watch for optimum insemination conditions, store semen to perform artificial insemination and clean all equipment to ensure sanitary breeding practices.
* Provide advice on breeding selection and techniques including maintaining and evaluating records of all insemination history, as well as report regularly and punctually to the operations manager on the breeding activity of the farm.
* Collect, collate and interpret livestock data for record keeping and research in line with Aurora Dairies data collection processes and procedures.
* Plan slaughtering and other aspects of production processes, whilst ensuring animals are handled humanely.
* Assist in controlled breeding experiments to develop improved livestock strains and artificially inseminate livestock for breeding purposes and assist with calving, if required.
* Proactively identify, record and communicate any abnormal animal behaviour (e.g., abnormal quarters, udders, mastitis, lame cows, bloating, heat detection, staggering). Identify harmful pathogenic micro‐organisms, insects, parasites, or fungal infection and perform the proper treatment and controlling methods.
* Isolate and draft cows.
* Operate the cattle crush in a safe and competent manner.
* Treat cows and arrange the supply of drugs, vaccines and other chemicals, as well as administer veterinary drugs under the direction of your manager, if required.
* Record accurate and timely treatment data, including withholding periods.
Qualifications
* Minimum 3 years of dairy industry experience
* A minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture
