Delivery Driver & Dispatch Assistant
Full time position - Bangholme, Vic
Regen Nurseries is seeking an experienced and reliable Delivery Driver & Dispatch Assistant to join our team. This role is primarily focused on the safe and efficient operation of heavy vehicles for local and regional deliveries of nursery stock and products, combined with hands‐on support for daily dispatch assistance with our small close‐knit team.
The successful candidate will be a skilled and safety‐conscious delivery driver who can also step confidently into dispatch preparation. A higher‐class license (HR, MR, or LR) is strongly preferred, along with a solid understanding of load management, route planning, and delivery compliance.
Key Responsibilities Delivery Driving
* Safely operate heavy vehicles (including HR, MR or LR class trucks) for local and regional deliveries of plants, nursery stock, and related products.
* Conduct thorough pre‐start vehicle inspections (fluid levels, tyres, lights, brakes) and complete daily inspection records.
* Correctly load and secure nursery stock in compliance with load restraint guidelines and relevant transport regulations.
* Plan and follow efficient delivery routes, adapting as required for traffic, access restrictions, or customer needs.
* Maintain accurate delivery documentation including proof of delivery and freight paperwork.
* Represent Regen Nurseries professionally when dealing with customers and site staff during deliveries.
* Manage delivery schedules and communicate proactively about delays or issues.
Dispatch & Logistics Support
* Assist with preparing and organising daily dispatch runs and delivery schedules.
* Pick, check, label, and stage orders accurately ahead of dispatch.
* Coordinate with nursery staff, customers, and transport contractors regarding order status and delivery requirements.
* Assist in managing transport paperwork, proof of delivery, and invoices.
* Monitor stock movement and assist with inventory accuracy across dispatch areas.
* Assist in allocating loads to appropriate vehicles based on size, weight, and delivery requirements.
Operational Support
* Support general nursery and operations during peak periods or as directed.
* Assist with the safe loading and unloading of supplier deliveries using appropriate equipment.
* Operate forklifts or articulated loaders as required (where licensed to do so).
* Maintain clean, safe, and organised loading dock and dispatch areas.
* Follow all workplace health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times.
Skills & Experience Essential
* Current Victorian Car Licence
* Strong knowledge of load restraint principles, chain of responsibility, and road transport compliance.
* Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks including loading and unloading.
* Strong communication skills and professional customer‐facing manner.
* Reliable, punctual, and adaptable with strong time management skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‐paced environment.
License Required
* Current Victorian Drivers Licence (HR, MR, LR, forklift highly desirable)
Desirable
* Experience driving trucks, heavy rigid, or medium rigid vehicles.
* Experience operating articulated loaders, forklifts, or similar plant equipment.
* Experience driving vehicles towing trailers or operating vans and utes in a delivery context.
* Familiarity with nursery stock, plant deliveries, or horticultural transport.
