Role Overview
We are seeking a friendly and organized Medical Receptionist to join our growing healthcare team at The Quay Family Healthcare. In this role, you will work at the front desk, greeting and checking in patients, answering questions, collecting co‐pays, processing paperwork, scheduling appointments, keeping records clean and organized, and ensuring a welcoming environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Open and close clinic as per set procedure
* Greet patients and callers professionally and courteously
* Make appointments for patients
* Ensure medical records are managed confidentially and efficiently
* Accurately process patient payments via cash, EFTPOS, and direct bill transactions
* Invoice Medicare, Private Health Funds, TAC, WorkCover
* Apply MBS schedule and correct billing procedures
* Handle referring doctors, hospital staff, pharmacists courteously and helpfully
* Attend to patient enquiries
* Check and handle internal emails
* Fill in the roster when staff is away, on holidays, or sick leave
* Maintain the reception waiting area and consulting rooms tidy, including cleaning spills if necessary
* Accurately store and retrieve patient and practice records with appropriate scanning, faxing, and filing of all documents
* Maintain confidentiality of patient personal and financial information at all times
* Complete recalls
* Support day‐to‐day operations of the medical centre
* Provide exceptional customer service and teamwork skills
Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team
* Experience with medical software (BEST PRACTICE / MEDICAL DIRECTOR)
* Strong organisational and problem solving skills
* Ability to work in a fast‐paced environment, including multitasking
* Effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, verbally and in writing
* Commitment to quality patient service
* At least one year experience as a Medical Receptionist in a medical practice
Additional Requirements
* Current Police Check
* Current Working with Children clearance
* Current First Aid / CPR certificate
* Immunisation record
* Driving licence / photo ID
