The Team
The Financial Institutions and International Public Finance (IPF) team is an integral part of S&P Global Ratings, responsible for maintaining credit ratings on high‐profile financial and international public finance institutions across Australia and New Zealand. Comprised of 14 analysts based in Melbourne and Sydney offices and led by an Analytical Manager in Melbourne, the team works closely with global colleagues and operates as part of a wider group that includes Sovereign and Insurance analysts, fostering a collegial and professional environment focused on delivering world‐class credit analysis.

The Impact
As part of the Financial Institutions and IPF team, you will join a collegial and professional team of analysts working on credits across Australia and New Zealand. You will analyze Australian and New Zealand financial and IPF institutions as a primary analyst, working closely under the direction of senior analysts to analyze information including reports, budgets and financial statements, write high‐quality reports for investors, and demonstrate analytical insight to internal and external audiences in an international working environment.

Responsibilities
* Cover and maintain a portfolio of credit ratings for financial institutions and international public finance issuers in Australia and New Zealand, with opportunities to broaden expertise into other asset classes over time
* Collect and analyze economic and financial data, conduct research, and maintain models and databases while demonstrating strong analytical perspective and curiosity
* Work closely with senior analysts to prepare materials for rating committees and publications, ensuring timely dissemination of ratings while building relationships with peers across teams and functions
* Confidently engage with senior executives and deliver exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders, leveraging strong communication skills to integrate and communicate complex information
* Contribute to industry research, participate in internal projects and working groups, and drive process improvements to achieve team objectives while taking initiative to enhance operational efficiency
* All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week
What We're Looking For Basic Required Qualifications
* An S&P Global employee for this role would typically have 2-5+ years of experience in credit analysis, credit research or financial analysis
* Background in credit analysis or research, bank treasury teams, corporate treasury functions, economics, or equity research with demonstrated analytical capabilities. Experience with analysis of financial or IPF institutions is advantageous
* Bachelor's degree in economics, commerce, business, or similar fields (CFA certification or post‐graduate degree is advantageous)
* Sound knowledge of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts with ability to analyze complex financial data
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to integrate and communicate complex information to diverse audiences
* Proficiency in Microsoft applications and ability to manipulate large datasets, cash flow and credit models. Experience leveraging AI tools and techniques to enhance analytical processes, including data analysis, research, and workflow automation.

* Highly organized and detail‐oriented with ability to work to deadlines, multitask, and manage competing priorities effectively
* Ability to work with incomplete or conflicting data and identify solutions in non‐routine situations, demonstrating adaptability and analytical problem‐solving skills
* We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in‐person interview, normally at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
