The Royal Hobart Hospital invites suitable applicants to apply for training within the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine. Rehabilitation Medicine is a recognised physician speciality with a dedicated 4‑year training program overseen by the Royal Australasian College of Physicians. The Royal Hobart Hospital is an accredited training site with four accredited training positions.
A doctor is eligible to apply to be admitted as a rehabilitation trainee at the end of PGY2. Rehabilitation Medicine is the diagnosis, assessment and management of an individual with a disability due to illness or injury. Rehabilitation physicians work with patients and families to help them achieve an optimal level of performance and improve their quality of life.
Rehabilitation Medicine at the Royal Hobart Hospital encompasses inpatient wards (dedicated rehabilitation units and in‑reach rehabilitation), outpatient services and procedural services, including ultrasound guided injection of botulinum toxin.

$134,930 - $189,005 per annum

Period of Employment
Fixed term, full time day work, 76 hours per fortnight, plus 10 hours protected training time pro rata, commencing 1 February 2027 until 7 February 2028.

Rehabilitation inpatient wards are located at:
* 90 Davey Street, Hobart
* 30 Cascade Road, South Hobart
Registrars can anticipate rotating through these clinical sites during their period of employment.
Duties
The Registrar is responsible for the day‑to‑day management of inpatients and outpatients and provides after‑hours emergency cover on a rostered on‑call basis.
Essential Requirements
* General or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
* Current Tasmanian Working with Children Registration (when applicable and as determined by individual position requirements).
