Polaris Engineering delivers high-quality engineering and construction solutions, specializing in heavy fabrication and surface treatment services including structural steel, plate work, pipework and rotatable maintenance services on mechanical equipment and associated steelwork. Our clients include major companies in the industrial, mining resources, and construction sectors. Due to Company growth, we are looking for experienced Site HSE Advisors to join our team, working under our Senior HSE Manager, for a site based role with an immediate start on a FIFO and 2/1 basis.
Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide day-to-day support to project teams to ensure the implementation of the HSE plan.
* Monitor work practices to ensure adherence to safety and environmental procedures and standards.
* Delivering HSE training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors.
* Participate in both internal and external HSE audits to evaluate compliance and identify areas for improvement.
* Assisting supervisors in training employees on hazard identification and incident prevention, fostering a culture of safety awareness and proactive risk management.
* Conduct hazard and risk assessments and effectively communicate outcomes.
* Lead or support incident investigations, inspections, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Skills & Experience
* A relevant bachelor's degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or environmental science.
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HSE advisory role within the mining and construction industry.
* Strong Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, codes of practice, including risk identification, management, control, and incident investigation processes.
* ICAM, TapRooT or similar system investigation experience.
* Proven experience leading the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of an ISO 45001-aligned OHS Management System, with accountability for system performance in a standalone HSE role.
* Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* High level of attention to detail and ability to manage complex tasks effectively.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel.
* Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (or willingness to obtain).
* A current WA Driver's licence.
* Valid Construction White Card.
* Able to pass a full medical, including a lab, drug & alcohol.
