About the Role
This permanent leadership opportunity suits a collaborative educator with a passion for Food Technology and Design Technologies, and the ability to inspire staff and students through contemporary, engaging practice.
Lead innovative learning and authentic student pathways at Kirwan State High School as Head of Department – Home Economics.
You will strengthen curriculum delivery, support staff capability, and build meaningful industry and community partnerships that enhance student engagement, achievement and future pathways.
As Head of Department – Home Economics, you will provide strategic and instructional leadership across the faculty, driving high expectations for teaching, learning and student success.
The role requires a proactive and relational leader with strong organisational and communication skills, the ability to lead innovation and change, and a commitment to fostering collaborative practice and continuous improvement across the school community.
Responsibilities
* Experience leading curriculum, teaching, and learning within Food Technology and/or Design Technologies.
* A strong understanding of the Design Technologies Australian Curriculum.
* Experience in coordinating or developing industry partnerships, vocational pathways, or Gateway to Industry Schools Program (GISP) initiatives.
* Proven capability in leading teams, managing programs, and supporting staff with their capability development.
* Strong organisational and administrative skills, including strategic planning and compliance requirements.
* The ability to foster innovative teaching practices and authentic learning opportunities aligned to industry expectations.
* Experience supporting pathways into vocational education, training, and employment would be highly regarded.
* Strengthen and expand industry partnerships and community engagement.
