The Opportunity
Roundabout Canberra is seeking a Volunteer Board Treasurer to join its engaged and values-driven Board during a period of continued growth and increasing community demand.
Roundabout Canberra is in a strong and stable position, with solid governance foundations and growing community support already in place. The Treasurer will support the organisation's long-term sustainability, financial oversight and strategic decision-making as it continues to expand its impact across the region.
This role suits someone who enjoys combining financial or commercial expertise with community impact. Alongside providing high-level financial guidance, Roundabout Canberra is also seeking someone practical and collaborative who is willing to assist with occasional operational or BAU financial matters where required.
You will join a collaborative Board and leadership team committed to practical support, dignity and genuine community connection.
As Roundabout Canberra continues to grow, the Board will play an important role in supporting the organisation's long‐term sustainability, strategic partnerships and future direction.
The Role
As a Board Treasurer you will:
* Support oversight of financial management and reporting
* Review budgets, forecasts and financial performance
* Help the Board understand financial position, sustainability and key risks
* Support long‐term financial planning and governance
* Oversee annual financial statements and audit processes
* Chair the Finance, Audit and Risk Committee
* Contribute to broader Board discussions and organisational strategy
The Ideal Person
You may already have Board experience, or this may represent your first formal Board appointment.
Roundabout Canberra is seeking someone who can provide sound financial oversight, support long‐term sustainability and act as a trusted advisor to the Board and leadership team.
You will likely bring:
* Experience across finance, accounting, governance, business or commercial leadership
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking capability
* The ability to interpret financial information and support sound decision‐making
* A practical and collaborative approach, with a willingness to provide occasional hands‐on financial guidance and support where needed in a growing organisation
* High levels of integrity, judgement and collaboration
* An interest in helping a growing community organisation strengthen its impact and sustainability
CPA, CA or equivalent financial qualifications would be highly regarded, though not essential.
Time Commitment
The expected commitment is approximately 4 to 6 hours per month and includes:
* Quarterly Board meetings (2 in‐person and 2 online annually)
* Participation in strategic planning sessions
* Reviewing Board papers and organisational updates
* Ad hoc support to the Chair and CEO where appropriate
Roundabout Canberra maintains appropriate governance structures and Directors & Officers insurance for Board members.
