About the Role
Construction Worker Parks & Gardens.
* Operate assigned plant and vehicles and carry out labouring duties in the maintenance and construction of roads, parks and gardens and roadsides in accordance with Council standards, timetable, environmental and quality objectives.
* Operate minor plant including line markers, hoists, elevated work platforms, trucks, tractors, mowers, slashers, edgers and brush cutters; conduct regular maintenance checks and servicing of plant to ensure a high level of operational standard is attained.
* Contribute to the safety of staff and public through the appropriate use of safety equipment and clothing in accordance with relevant safety standards and Council procedures.
* Deliver traffic control at worksites as directed.
* Follow written and oral instructions.
* Promote information sharing and knowledge transfer to drive evidence‐based decision‐making, enhance capability and optimise capacity.
* Contribute to the performance of Council by demonstrating professional conduct, making the best use of knowledge, experience and skills, and being accountable for own decisions and actions.
* Contribute to a safe workplace by complying with legislative and organisational requirements and being accountable for own decisions and actions.
About You
* Driver's Licence Class MR unrestricted.
* NSW WHS Construction Induction (White Card).
* Demonstrated ability to operate a variety of plant such as line markers, hoists, elevated work platforms, trucks, tractors, mowers, slashers, brush cutters, etc.
* Proven ability and ongoing commitment to work as directed by a supervisor, according to Council's prescribed practices, Code of Conduct and Work Health and Safety procedures, with or without supervision.
* Demonstrated ability to participate in toolbox talks as required.
* Proven ability to manually lift in accordance with WHS guidelines.
Desirable Criteria
* Traffic Control tickets – Traffic Controller and Implement Traffic Control Guidance Plan.
* Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain plant, equipment and hand tools in a safe and usable condition.
* Demonstrated experience with minor plant such as chainsaws, compaction equipment and power tools.
* Current First Aid Certificate.
* Proven ability to read and understand simple plans.
* Certificate II or III in Horticulture, Green Keeping, Landscaping or a related field.
