About Haskoning Australia:
Based in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane, Haskoning in Australia is an engineering consultancy providing independent strategic advisory, design, engineering, environmental, and project management services to companies around the country and in neighbouring regions – including New Zealand, SE Asia and the Pacific Islands and Papua New Guinea**.
About First Marine International (FMI):**First Marine International (FMI) is the shipyard technology and maritime market research group within Haskoning; and the international leader in shipyard design, shipyard performance improvement and marine market research. We are a relatively small but growing team with offices in the UK (Falmouth, Newcastle upon Tyne, Glasgow), Australia, USA, Canada, Germany and India.
We are looking to build our team and presence in Australia, leveraging off the experience and capability developed overseas to grow market presence in the exciting Australian market.
As such, we have several opportunities available for individuals with the right skills, experience and knowledge to join our business and help us grow here in Australia:
· Senior Consultant – Shipyard Design & Performance Improvement
· Consultant - Shipyard technology & Operations
· Project Manager – Senior or Junior
As FMI works closely with the Australian Defence Force and Government, an AGSVA security clearance will be required. As the roles are very specialist and niche, FMI's hiring decisions are based on the meeting our competencies and qualifications with prolonged Shipyard experience essential in our senior roles. Although not essential, experience in Nuclear Shipbuilding and/or Shipyards will be favourable in a potential candidate's application. All potential candidates will be selected based on their unique strengths, experiences and how they would fit into FMI's existing international team.
What will you doThe overall purpose of the Consultant roles is to provide consultancy services to FMI clients. It is also to enhance the FMI team by providing additional technical expertise to an already very experienced team. The main focus areas will be shipyard design and performance improvement but there will be involvement with most areas that FMI is active in including marine market research. You will already have shipyard and industrial experience that you will be able to readily adapt to the maritime consultancy environment. Working initially under the close direction and supervision of Senior and Principal Consultants, you will develop expert knowledge and consultancy skills relating to shipyard technology and operations, shipyard design and market research aspects of the First Marine Advisory Group. In time you will progress to managing and undertaking projects, either alone or as part of an FMI team. You will represent the company in front of clients (initially with supervision) and will work towards being able to present a credible solution to clients' problems and questions with due regard to accuracy, objectivity, risk and liability.
For the Project Manager role you will provide project management support for consultancy services to FMI clients. The role will provide project and financial administrative support to the FMI project managers and team, as well as back up FMI Director's PA/Team Secretary and UK Project Management Team in their absence. Even though the FMI team is based around the world, FMI delivers as one team. Therefore, there is an expectation to provide support to Teams outside of Australia.
