Support Worker – Personal Care Experienced
Prevail Care is seeking experienced, reliable and mature Support Workers to join a stable support team for a participant living with a high-level spinal cord injury. This 1:1 support environment requires individuals who are calm under pressure, committed to safety, and confident working with complex physical and clinical needs.
Candidates must be Australian citizens only, Permanent residents or have unrestricted work rights.
This role requires a combination of prior experience and ongoing training support for complex physical and clinical care.
You will be supporting a highly independent and personable gentleman in his own home, helping him maintain his routines, independence, hobbies, and quality of life. This role is ideal for candidates who enjoy meaningful, relationship-based work where they can genuinely make a difference.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide high-quality personal care and daily living support
* Assist with transfers using a ceiling hoist
* Support with continence care (including bowel routine and SPC care, under delegation)
* Monitor skin integrity and pressure areas
* Recognise and respond to Autonomic Dysreflexia (training provided)
* Assist with meals, hydration, mobility, and positioning
* Support community access, errands, and social engagement
* Maintain accurate shift notes, communication logs, and follow care plans
* Uphold participant choice, dignity, and decision-making at all times

* Experienced in complex support or clinical care
* Respectful, mature, and confident in maintaining professional boundaries
* Patient, steady, and calm, especially during spasms or high-support tasks
* Reliable and committed to a long-term support environment
* Comfortable working in a small, close-knit team
* Strong communicators who follow direction and clinical delegation
* Physically capable of assisting with repositioning and equipment setup
Registered Nurses are encouraged to apply, as are highly skilled support workers who have experience with high physical support environments.
Essential Requirements
* Cert III or IV in Individual Support (or equivalent experience)
* Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
* First Aid & CPR
* Manual handling experience
* Willingness to undergo High Intensity Support training and competency sign‐off
* Valid driver's licence
* Availability required for day shifts, evening shifts, overnight shifts, weekend work, and public holidays
For RN Applicants
* AHPRA Registration
* Experience with spinal cord injury or complex care preferred
