Overview
Primary Location: NSW - Portland. Permanent, full-time (casual offers available). Reporting line: Regional Manager. The role supports the Electrical maintenance and repair team at Mt Piper Power Station. Overtime as required; mainly Monday to Friday. The job focuses on providing effective maintenance execution to enable a safe, highly reliable plant with minimal downtime and efficient resource use.
Responsibilities
* Execute electrical maintenance and repair tasks across the plant.
* Collaborate with the team to ensure plant reliability and safety.
* Perform instrumentation calibrations and support control systems.
* Maintain and troubleshoot protection systems, process control, and PLC-based distributed control.
* Support installation, testing, and interfacing of cabling/Fibre optic systems.
* Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, to share knowledge and provide updates.
Qualifications & Experience
* Dual trade qualification as an A grade electrician and Instruction Technician preferred (not essential).
* Relevant plant electrical, instrument, and control experience in heavy industry.
* Hands‐on experience with protection systems, process control, and PLC distributed control.
* Exposure to pressure, level, temperature, and flow instrumentation.
* Working knowledge of AS3000 design and verification requirements at trade level.
* Experience with AC and DC motor control systems.
* Ability to read and interpret technical documentation and wiring diagrams.
* Good communication skills, high safety and workplace culture commitment, teamwork, and a willingness to share knowledge.
* Instrumentation calibration experience favourably considered if no Instrumentation Certificate.
