Deliver essential services that support WA's mining and resource sector

Would you like to be a part of the new Department of Mines, Petroleum and Exploration?

As a member of the department, you will help support the development of Western Australia's resources sector, which oversees resource development and improved environmental outcomes for mining, petroleum and exploration for the benefit of WA and future generations.

Our people will be provided with a range of benefits, including flexible work arrangements, working at home, in the field or in the office, training and development opportunities, and ongoing support to enable you to achieve outcomes for our community. We value diversity and appreciate every individual's perspective, bringing together a diverse and inclusive workforce to drive innovation and success.

The role

As the Tenure Services Officer, you will play an important role in delivering efficient and accurate services that support resource exploration and development across Western Australia. The Tenure Services Officer supports the administration of mining tenure by receiving and processing applications for mining tenements, deals and related applications under the Mining Act 1978 and other relevant legislation.

As the key frontline contact of the Regional Mining Office, you represent the department's charter to deliver high-quality customer service to industry, stakeholders and the community, responding to enquiries and assisting customers to navigate departmental processes and requirements. The varied role also supports the business area by maintaining resource tenure information systems, processing financial transactions and execution of a range of administrative functions.

Those with strong attention to detail, sound communication skills and a collaborative nature will thrive within the cohesive and supportive team environment. Applicants suited for the position will draw on their willingness to develop, an ability to interpret and apply legislation, and a commitment to delivering accurate, timely and professional service outcomes.

Please refer to the Job Description Form (JDF) attached for further information regarding the position, including any specific requirements, capabilities and pre‐employment checks which will be assessed as part of the selection process.

While this selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy, it may also be used to fill other similar vacancies (permanent, fixed‐term, full‐time or part‐time) within the department for the next 12 months, from the date that the recruitment breach period has been finalised.

This position is in Karratha, a city in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, adjoining the port of Dampier. Located approximately 1,535 kilometres north of Perth, it offers high quality amenities and infrastructure. It is known as a place of choice to work, visit, raise families and take in some of the unique natural attractions Western Australia has to offer.

To be eligible for a permanent appointment, applicants must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or have a visa to live and work indefinitely in Australia at the time of application. Applicants with a valid visa to work and live in Australia for a specific duration may be assessed and considered suitable for similar fixed term vacancies that arise.

To work for DMPE, you must consent to a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check and obtain clearance before you start. If deemed suitable, DMPE will coordinate and pay for your NCCHC as part of your pre‐employment checks.
