We are seeking an exceptional Head of Sales to lead our national sales function and become a cornerstone of the Applied Robotics Senior Leadership Team. This is a significant role for a commercially astute, strategically minded sales leader who thrives in long-cycle, complex solution environments.
The Head of Sales will be the driving force behind Applied Robotics' revenue growth; setting and executing sales strategy, leading and developing our two outbound sales representatives and acting as the senior commercial relationship owner for our most significant customer opportunities.
Critically, this role requires the ability to marshal the resources of the entire business from engineering and concept development through to design to creating compelling, technically credible propositions.
Role Responsibilities
Sales Strategy & Revenue Growth
* Develop and execute the national sales strategy in alignment with Applied Robotics' broader business objectives.
* Set and own annual and multi-year revenue targets, pipeline metrics, and win-rate goals.
* Identify and prioritise market segments, customer profiles, and strategic opportunities that best match Applied Robotics' capabilities.
* Build and maintain a healthy, well-qualified sales pipeline that provides reliable revenue visibility for the business.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
* Lead and personally manage senior-level relationships with high-value clients and strategic prospects.
* Engage effectively at every level of a customer's organisation — from operational teams to C-suite and Board- adapting communication style and content accordingly.
* Develop long-term trusted-advisor relationships that generate repeat business and referrals.
* Understand and navigate the commercial, contractual, and operational implications of complex customer engagements.
* Lead the commercial negotiation of major contracts, understanding the implications of risk, scope, payment terms, and legal obligations.
* Work closely with the CEO on the commercial structuring of significant deals.
* Ensure that every proposal and scope of work is commercially sound and accurately represents the capabilities and capacity of the business whilst maximising both the Sales and Profitability Metrics of the business.
Cross-functional Leadership & Resource Orchestration
* Act as the primary interface between the sales function and the Solutions Development Team (Engineers, designers, and concept development specialists).
* Brief the solutions development team clearly and compellingly at the point of opportunity identification, enabling them to produce high-quality scope of work, architectural designs, and solution designs that convert prospects.
* Manage the handoff of won opportunities into delivery, ensuring customer expectations are accurately set and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
* Use the full capabilities of the business intelligently to win and retain customers- knowing when and how to deploy technical, creative, and engineering resources for maximum effect.
* Lead, coach, and develop two outbound sales representatives, setting clear performance expectations and supporting their professional growth.
* Build a high-performance sales culture grounded in accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
* Contribute actively as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, bringing a commercial perspective to broader business decisions.
Experience & Skills
* Demonstrated success in a senior sales leadership role, with accountability for significant revenue targets.
* Demonstrated experience in managing a National Technical Sales Funnel across either Software or Engineering Services across multiple industries
* Demonstrated experience in a Partnership Sales Model, including partner stakeholder management, partnership sales planning and team enablement programs
* Deep experience in long-cycle, complex B2B solution selling — where the customer is buying a capability or outcome.
* Ability to sell concepts and visions: conveying the value of bespoke solutions that do not yet exist at the time of sale.
* Proven commercial acumen, able to structure, negotiate, and understand the implications of complex contracts.
* Outstanding communication and influencing skills, equally effective in a boardroom, on a plant floor, or in a technical briefing.
* Experience engaging with and managing the expectations of engineering or technical delivery teams.
* Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market opportunity into executable sales plans.
* A leader who attracts, develops, and retains high-performing sales talent.
Background
* Experience in automation, robotics, engineering, industrial technology, or a related capital-intensive sector.
* A technical background combined with a strong commercial track record, or a career sales professional with deep exposure to technical solution environments.
* Familiarity with project-based or EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) style delivery models.
* Existing network within Australian manufacturing, logistics, resources, food & beverage, or related sectors.
