About the Directorate
Statewide Services provides services and supports required by schools to enable student achievement, focusing on students and schools that need it most. It encompasses both school‑ and system‑facing service delivery. The Secondary Schools, District High Schools and Post‑School Pathways Directorate provides targeted, coordinated support to secondary schools and regions to improve student achievement and outcomes. It delivers expert advice and practical assistance to schools identified as requiring additional support, with a focus on strengthening teaching quality, leadership capability and student engagement across Years 7–12.
Role
The Principal Consultant RTO Schools works with the Directorate to provide advice and support around VET in schools and post‑school pathways. The primary focus of this role is to support the 15 public schools in WA that are Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) in their own right. Full details of the role, selection criteria and training requirements are listed in the attached Job Description Form (JDF).
Responsibilities
* Provide strategic planning advice and guidance to RTO schools for ongoing registration, additions to scope, auditing, assessment validation, reporting of RTO operations and compliance.
* Advise schools on the design, development, implementation and review of internal processes to demonstrate RTO compliance against the VET Quality Framework.
* Monitor Jobs and Skills Council projects, including changes to training packages that may impact RTO schools, and maintain working relationships with key stakeholders.
* Maintain knowledge of course accreditation (desirable).
Qualifications
* Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or holder of a visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and units compliant with the current standards for RTOs.
* Completion of any training specific to this role required by departmental policy.
* Current Working with Children Check.
