Overview

The SIIU is seeking an experienced manager to lead and support a team of eight investigators as they undertake complex, sensitive, and challenging investigations into safety incidents within Queensland's resources sector.

As a strong leader with deep insight into people and team dynamics, you will inspire and guide your team to consistently deliver exemplary investigation outcomes. Your investigative expertise will ensure best practices and established procedures are rigorously applied at every stage.

You will have strong regulatory experience, and proven ability to apply complex legislation.

Equally important is your ability to build and maintain transparent, trusted relationships with key stakeholders—including from the Office of the Work Health and Safety Prosecutor—ensuring collaboration and clarity in all interactions.

Professionalism is a hallmark of your approach; you communicate investigative findings and decisions with precision and confidence, representing the SIIU with credibility. You will have a track record for showing initiative and thinking strategically.

Key Knowledge And Experience
* Extensive investigative experience with law enforcement, workplace investigations and/or regulatory compliance is essential.
* Extensive experience in leading a high performing team is required.
Essential
* Work outside of standard hours to meet operational requirements.
* Travel to and work in remote locations for multiple days at a time with less than 24 hours notice.
* Work in adverse weather and atmospheric conditions including significant heat.
* Work underground.
* Work on uneven surfaces.
* Hold and maintain eligibility to hold a current driver's licence.
Essential / desirable requirements
* Hold a tertiary qualification in a relevant field including nationally recognised qualifications in investigations.
* At least 12 years of experience in investigations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Desirable
* Experience in conducting investigations in a resources or industrial context.
Qualifications

Qualifications acquired from an overseas educational institution will only be accepted where the qualification has been recognised to an equivalent level in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework.
