Position Information
The new Medowie High School will open to Year 7 students only at the start of Term 1, 2027. Located in Port Stephens on Worimi Country, the school serves a vibrant semi‐rural community.
Recognising the unique opportunities and challenges of opening a new school, the successful applicant will work closely with the principal and executive team to establish inclusive systems, structures and processes that support students with disability and additional learning and support needs.
A key component of the role will be supporting Year 6 to Year 7 transition processes for students requiring additional support, contributing to enrolment planning, building strong partnerships with partner primary schools, families and external agencies, and supporting the establishment of inclusive practices that ensure a successful commencement for the school's inaugural cohort of students.
Specific Selection Criteria
* Demonstrated capacity to contribute to the establishment of a new school, including developing systems, structures and processes that support the successful operation of support classes and inclusive practices across the school.
* Proven ability to lead and build the capacity of support class teachers to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed teaching, learning and wellbeing programmes for students with disability and additional support needs.
* Demonstrated expertise in leading inclusive education practices across a whole‐school context, including supporting staff to implement reasonable adjustments, differentiated practice and effective learning support processes.
General Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice.
* Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programmes.
* Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams.
* Well‐developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents.
* Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning.
* Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Eligibility Requirements
A full teaching approval with the NSW Department of Education is required, and applicants must satisfy teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. Applicants must also provide details of their WWCC clearance number.
