Job Description
As a Financial Counsellor, you will be committed to building people's capacity to improve their financial wellbeing by providing financial counselling, financial literacy, problem gambling amelioration, micro finance, and emergency relief assistance to members of the community experiencing or at risk of financial hardship.
You will work with participants to assess eligibility and needs, address individual and family worries, provide information and supported referrals to services, and deliver community education sessions.
Required Skills and Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A minimum Diploma in Community Services (Financial Counselling) along with registration with an affiliated professional body or the willingness and ability to complete the core qualification within 12 months and undertake the Problem Gambling Skills Set within an agreed timeframe.
* Prior experience working as a Financial Counsellor, or in the human services sector in casework/advocacy/finance or banking.
* Be empathetic, nonjudgmental, solutions focused and culturally responsive.
* Experience in facilitating and or co-delivering small groups, community education sessions and or short courses in financial literacy and / or life skills.
