The Opportunity
As a Senior Claims Specialist, you will play a central role in delivering transparent, fair and efficient claims outcomes across a diverse portfolio, including complex motor, property and liability matters. You'll work closely with brokers, assessors, solicitors and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely fulfilment of claims, while setting a standard of service that strengthens Rural Affinity's reputation as "the obvious choice."
This role offers meaningful opportunities to support the capability uplift of the Claims team, contribute to claims process improvements and shape resources that enhance operational effectiveness. You'll be a key touchpoint for technical guidance, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
What You'll Be Doing
* Managing a portfolio of complex claims in line with insurer, regulatory and internal expectations.
* Acting as a technical reference point for Claims Specialists, providing coverage interpretation, case advice and informal coaching.
* Ensuring clear, timely and professional communication with all stakeholders — internally and externally.
* Supporting the development and maintenance of claims procedures and technical resources.
* Managing escalated complaints within your portfolio with fairness, empathy and professionalism.
* Contributing to process enhancement and claims improvement initiatives across the business.
* Building and maintaining positive relationships with insurers, service providers, brokers and clients.
* Collaborating cross-functionally with underwriting, product, finance, compliance and broker relationship teams to facilitate efficient claims fulfilment.
* Committing to ongoing personal and professional development as a senior member of the team.
What You Bring
* Minimum 5 years; 7–10+ years' experience in insurance claims handling, with broad knowledge across motor, property and liability lines.
* Strong technical capability in assessing, interpreting and managing complex claims.
* Confident communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity for varied audiences.
* A proactive, solutions-focused approach and strong stakeholder management skills.
* Experience supporting or mentoring others in a technical capacity.
* A commitment to regulatory compliance, high service standards and continuous improvement.
