Global Medics is currently looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist interested in working permanently in Tasmania.
Tasmania is an island state of Australia known for its stunning natural beauty, unique wildlife, and rich history. It's a mountainous island with a diverse landscape, including ancient forests, rugged mountains, sparkling highland lakes, and diverse coastlines. Tasmania's capital city is Hobart, and it's the smallest and least populous state in Australia.
Tasmania is south of Victoria and has a cooler climate.
Roles:
General Adult Consultation-Liaison (CL)
* Provides a comprehensive general adult Consultation-Liaison (CL) psychiatric service in the Royal Hobart Hospital (RHH) and associated facilities, including the Emergency Department (ED) and the Mental Health Short Stay Unit (MHSSU).
* Acts as a consultant to mental health professionals, and health service providers including RHH medical staff, general practitioners and other agencies, with regard to the assessment and management of individuals with mental health disorders.
* Undertakes supervisory responsibilities with psychiatric registrars and other medical staff as required and appropriate.
Salary:
Specialist Medical Practitioners
Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1- Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 3 $216,300 - $310,389 per annum, pro rata + 12% superannuation (from July 2025) + access to salary packaging
Please note that access to the Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner salary range $300,216 -$310,389 is subject to the successful applicant satisfying the criteria for Senior Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1, 2 or 3 as outlined in the Medical Practitioners (Tasmanian State Service) Award
In addition, the following allowances and benefit, calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:
* 482 Visa
* Cost of one-way economy airfares or economy one-way Spirit of Tasmania fares and cost of driving a vehicle to and from the Spirit of Tasmania. Reimbursement of mileage will be on the basis of the appropriate prescribed rate contained in the Tasmanian State Service Award 2008 'occasional user rate'
* Overnight accommodation where this is required to make a connecting flight or sailing.
* Where required for working rights, the cost of a visa application for the applicant and included dependents (not including costs incurred to provide evidence for the visa application e.g., skills assessment, medical testing or English testing) on production of receipts
* Salary packaging options include a range of benefits like living expenses up to $9,010 and $2,650 in meals and entertainment every year.
* Provision of a fully maintained private plated motor vehicle or (Delete previous for part time SMP) motor vehicle allowance of $28,389 per annum, pro rata.
* Subject to approval from the Private Patient Scheme Committee (PPS), 35% of base salary plus on-call, pro rata) of additional payment will be paid from (PPS). If not admitted to the PPS, a 35% in lieu of PPS of base salary will be paid.
* Continuing Professional Development Allowance of $16,480 per annum.
* Travel and relocation assistance support available up to $15,000 for eligible appointees from overseas, and up to $10,000 for appointees from interstate.
