The Machinist (Diesel Mechanic) repairs and maintains heavy equipment and roadway machinery at construction sites.
Rate: $38.16/hr
Experience and Qualifications
* Must have high school diploma, GED or equivalent educational credential
* Five years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic
* Welding experience
* Must have a Valid Driver's License; DOT Medical Card, Hoisting License; CDL preferred
* Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical/electronic, and pneumatic systems as they pertain to operation and maintenance of roadway machinery
Key Accountabilities
* Ensure compliance with all railroad rules and regulations for safety, operations and the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)
* Troubleshoot and perform heavy repairs on equipment components including gas and diesel engines, transmissions and differentials, hydraulic pumps, motors, cylinders, valves, work heads, booms, electrical systems, and conveyor belt systems
* Solve work-related problems, make decisions, and provide instructions
* Understand mechanical operations of machinery
* Drive heavy-duty service truck, including truck-mounted crane
* Other duties as assigned during emergencies
